Another Cuban artist. Born in Cuban and then exiled to Chicago, Casimiro Gonzalez’s art is full of the warm colors reflecting his memories of Cuba.
Some of his subjects are more thick than fat, and some are simply fat; and usually his fatter subjects are women. Most of his images of men are more muscular than fat, but there are some fat men depicted.
Gonzalez bases his art on emotions:
Some of the reviews I read about Gonzalez’s art claim that his work is “happy” I disagree. There is a lethargy in much of his work, some seem, to me, to be expressing contentment and others melancholy. I don’t see his work to be happy, but without a doubt his work is beautiful.
